At the heart of the project is a commitment to inclusion and
empowerment. We offer volunteering and work experience opportunities to disabled and neurodivergent young people aged 16–24, equipping them with transferable and digital skills - from audio editing and research to scripting and content creation. Through hands-on training and mentorship, Project Sandbox supports young people in building confidence, gaining experience, and preparing for future employment in media and beyond.
To shape the content of the six episodes, we’ve spoken with industry experts as well as disabled and neurodivergent people of all ages, gathering a wide range of insights and lived experiences.
As part of the project, we also welcomed three neurodivergent young adult volunteers to our team. Throughout the process, they’ve developed valuable digital skills - from researching and fact-checking to writing blogs and editing audio. Their contributions have been essential to the success of the series.
Check out their blogs further down the page, where they talk about their own experiences working on the project.

Disabled individuals face increased risk of exploitation - that includes online
Neurodivergent and disabled people are often targeted by online scams and predators
Fewer disabled people feel confident online compared to non-disabled peers
Lots of neurodivergent adults report experiencing online harassment and bullying
Traditional educational environments may not provide the flexibility and support these individuals need to thrive.
There is a critical need for innovative, inclusive projects that empower these young people with the skills and confidence required to succeed in various fields.
By creating content and developing podcasts, we are creating a dynamic, supportive environment where participants can LEARN, GROW, and CONNECT.
Primarily we like to focus on Neurodiversity, and the many aspects and challenges faced by individuals navigating a world that is not always set up for them. But if you have an idea that you think aligns with our values, please do drop us an email so we can discuss it further.
