Creating Neuro-Inclusive Conversations with If U Care Share Foundation

We were thrilled to deliver a lively and insightful neurodiversity training session for the dedicated team at If U Care Share. With their vital mission to support families affected by suicide, the session focused on building greater awareness, understanding, and inclusion both within their team and the communities they serve.

The training, led by Lucy Smith, explored the rich landscape of neurodiversity, particularly ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and dyspraxia. One especially resonant moment came when we discussed ADHD using a powerful metaphor:

A neurotypical brain can open a drawer, take what it needs, and close it again. An ADHD brain, on the other hand, has four drawers open at once. Most of the contents spill onto the floor, and while trying to complete three tasks simultaneously, it’s easily distracted by the mess it's just created.

This simple analogy sparked a powerful reflection on how different minds experience the world and how much more we can do to build supportive, responsive environments.

We also talked about how to shape working environments that suit everyone, including those with sensory needs, executive function challenges, or a need for flexibility. From creating calm spaces and offering clear communication, to understanding how small adjustments can prevent burnout, every aspect was considered through a compassionate and inclusive lens.

The goal was to empower the If U Care Share team to feel confident in supporting each other and the neurodivergent families they walk alongside. Together, we are building a workplace and a world that celebrates cognitive diversity as a strength, not a barrier.

If your team is ready to build a more inclusive, understanding, and empowering environment for neurodivergent colleagues and communities, we’d love to support you on that journey.
